City administrative offices are closed to the public every Friday.
This began on June 29th, 2018, as an effort to help bridge a multi-million dollar budget gap.
Open on Fridays are the Landfill, Public Library, and Recreation and Parks offices.

2024 Holiday Closures

City of Santa Maria offices will be closed for the following regularly recognized public holidays in 2024:
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, City offices are closed the preceding Friday.
If a holiday falls on a Sunday, City offices are closed on the following Monday.

The City of Santa Maria Regional Landfill will be closed on the following dates in 2024:

WHEN TO PLACE YOUR TRASH AND RECYCLING OR GREEN WASTE CONTAINERS AT THE CURB DURING HOLIDAY WEEKS:

During holiday weeks, the City provides collection service to residential customers and sweeps streets, one (1) day later than usual. Residential customers should place containers out for service by 6:00 a.m. (e.g., if your normal service day is Monday, you will be serviced on Tuesday). This change does not affect commercial customers.
