2023-24 Goals and Objectives

1. Create policy, training, and implementation of acquired body-worn cameras, to meet best practice standards and enhance transparency within the community, and in alignment with the Smart City, Safe City vision.
2. Research, identify, and implement solutions to streamline concealed carry weapons permit applications, in response to increasing demand since the June 2022 U.S. Supreme Court overturning states’ gun regulation statutes.
3. Implement a school resource officer program within the school districts.
4. Research, identify, and implement digital progress reports solutions to streamline and gain efficiencies in our 20-week field training program and department-wide training plan and increase the odds of successful completion.
5. Implement recommendations based on the completed audit of our Property/Evidence Division.
6. Use social media campaigns to educate the public on crime prevention and safety.
7. Identify opportunities for career growth and succession within the department.
8. Focus on youth by expanding our Explorer Post Program and participation in community engagement opportunities.
9. Focus efforts to recruit, hire and train personnel by utilizing the Department’s dedicated recruitment website, social media platforms, and community events.
10. Expand outreach efforts to include the Mixteco-speaking community.
